Films with Urban Lens

Urban lens film festival is being organised at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) in association with Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan.

This festival will feature 28 films from 11 countries including India, Brazil, China, Iran, Portugal, Ukraine, and Mozambique. Urban lens will be screening over 100 films out of more than 2000 entries from 105 countries.

A documentary by Uli Gaulke, As Time Goes By in Shanghai, will be screened and a conversation with Subasri Krishnan and Gaulke will take place. Ratheesh Radhakrishnan will deliver a public lecture on Kochi as a city and its emergence in Malayalam cinema on Saturday. On Sept 23rd, there will be an ‘On Practice’ programme which will feature Jabeen Merchant, a film editor whose works include fiction and non-fiction.

Urban lens aims to help improving relationship between countries in the Global South. The cinematic traditions of countries like Africa, Latin America, and Asia are usually included with their histories and the complexities attached to it. This film festival will screen films that vary in their genres.
