For each course there will be both continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) and Semester Examination (SE), with equal weightage in the ratio of 50: 50. To get a pass in a subject/paper a student must secure a minimum of 35% in each of the CIA and SE and a minimum of 40% in the aggregate of the two. A student cannot sit for the SE unless he obtains the minimum of
35% in the CIA.

The CIA consists of written tests, seminars and assignments, projects, quizzes, discussions and attendance. The 50% of Internal Assessment will be broken as follows:
1. Written tests 30%: There will be 2 tests of 90 minutes duration per semester. These tests will include questions of short, medium and long type. The first test will be conducted in the 6th week after the beginning of the classes and the second test will be in the 12th week.
2. Assignment 10%: There will be an assignment for ten marks and it will be completed prior to the first test.
3. Project, quizzes and discussions 5%: One project, a quiz or a presentation will be evaluated. This exercise will be held after the first test and prior to the second test.
4. Attendance 5%: A candidate must earn 75% of attendance per semester to take the semester examinations. Marks for attendance will be awarded as follows.

Attendance Percentage Marks
96 - 100 5
91 - 95 4
86 - 90 3
81 - 85 2
76 - 80 1

Note:

1. With regard to late admissions, attendance will be counted from the date of admission.
2. Necessary exemption will be given for participants in sports and other activities sponsored by the College.
3. All answer scripts of CIA will be returned to the students. They are expected to file them. If there is any ground for appeal, the candidate must make it to the teacher within 24 hours. If there is difference of opinion it must be referred to the ‘Grievance Cell’ with an application to the Controller of Examinations.
4. There will be an end semester examination. The valuation is centrally arranged.
